This is my second week of the 100WCGU and this week's prompt is '... but where does the water go...'. Quite an appropriate prompt considering the appalling weather we've had on the island this past week.
We live far enough away from town and the harbour in Ramsey to have escaped the floods but many people and businesses have not been so lucky. The island has been battered by winds, rain and tidal surges but the one saving grace in all this catastrophe is that people were better prepared than on previous occasions.
Here's my contribution to this week's 100WCGU: #116 ... but where does the water go ...
But where does the water go, do you know
Tell me, which way does our torrent flow
Does it ebb and flow from side to side
Or in and out, like it does with the tide
When the dam just breaks and emotions bubble
Salty water flows at the first sign of trouble
An endless trickle just rolls down my face
It’s time for a change but do I leave this place
Does it seem to you that I am ok
I grow tired of the games that people play
Feelings of loathing continue to grow
Tell me now, but where does the water go?
