It's been a tricky couple of months and what I thought was just a blip has become something a little more substantial. My thoughts were getting very dark indeed and I finally plucked up the courage to chat with my GP about tweaking my meds. Thankfully he is very approachable and understanding so hopefully I can get my mood back on track.
One of the things I notice as my mood nosedives is that I cannot read books. I just seem to lose the ability to concentrate and end up reading the same page over and over. Not sure if this is something anyone else with depression has experienced. The strange thing is, I can knit the most complex lace pattern following a knitting chart without too much bother, but reading seems to escape me.
I put together a Happiness Play List a few weeks ago. It's a collection of songs that make me feel good, particularly when I feel so crap. Some songs are just feel good songs and others have happy memories attached to them. I would recommend everybody try this - it really helps me.
I recommend making a note every time you hear or remember a feel good song. Eventually you'll end up with a substantial list to play when you cook, while you clean, or just when you need a pick me up. I set up a play list on You Tube which I can play via my laptop or mobile whenever I need it. Here's my playlist. Enjoy :)
